DOS CAMINOS

I don't like to eat guacamole.

I know, I know, I'm super weird and something bad should happen to me because I do not enjoy one of the worlds favorite dips.

Things changed for me this past week at Dos Caminos, I was eating their guac up like it was made for me and only me.  By the looks of this picture, all of the food was for just me.

I used to complain that avocado was too fatty tasting, but now I think I just hadn't had really good guac.  Dos Caminos has totally changed my opinion on the dip, and I'm ashamed to admit that I have been craving some chips and guacamole since approving the taste on Wednesday.

ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS

The second great thing I got to do on Monday was see a preview performance of One Man, Two Guvnors.  I haven't expressed this on my blog yet, but I love musicals!  I hadn't heard a lot about this show before going to see it, and I didn't know much about the plot, but the one thing I did hear is that this show is hilarious, like laugh so hard you fall out of your chair funny.

I laughed so hard during this show, my stomach hurt by the time it was over.  I don't want to give much away from the plot, because this is the first time it is being done in the US, but the story is about one young man who services two separate guvnors.  He isn't very good at managing his two jobs, and gets into a lot of sticky situations because of his "confusion".  At one part of the show this man is so hungry because he can't get a minute to eat while serving two people.  He then asked the audience if anyone had anything like a sandwich they could give him.  There is a lot of audience participation in the show, but this instance was not meant for it.  A man in the audience proceeds to offer him a sandwich, which made the audience and the actors erupt in laugher.  The actor played along with the man's sandwich offering making fun of him for bringing a sandwich to the theatre and so on.  At this point I could not contain myself, and I am usually a very reserved person while watching a show.  I thought that the whole performance was really great, especially if you want to have a good laugh at Brits being hilariously stupid.

DOMINO MAGAZINE QUICK FIXES

Two great things happened to me yesterday; one I got a copy of Domino Magazine's quick fixes, two... I'll talk about that later.  I have been looking forward to this publication since it was announced early this year.  April 17th was marked on our calendar, and my accomplice Katie and myself made it an all day mission to hunt to this issue down.

Without luck we tried a huge fashion magazine store on 40th Street,  a Walgreens, and a Duane Reade.  Then after searching through twitter, I got a tip to try Barnes and Nobel.  I called them, put two copies on hold, then 30 mins later had my own copy!

After reading from cover to cover, I thought this magazine did what it aimed to do.  It briefly touched on all aspects of sprucing up a home.  It was well designed and had a lot of helpful beginners tips.  I had read a lot of criticisms about this issue being underwhelming, but I quite enjoyed it, and will definately break it out from time to time when I need a little help redecorating.  Hopefully there will be another issue soon!

CANVAS POP

Back in February I entered a contest on Apartment Therapy to win $5,000 towards Canvas Pop art.  They take your photos and turn them into really awesome stretch canvases.  Unfortunately I didn't win the $5,000 grand prize, but I did win enough to get one Instagram print made! Through the Canvas Pop website you can login to your Instagram account and print 12x12s or 20x20s.  My winnings only got me a 12x12, but look how great it turned out!

(This picture really makes me want to go back to Maui.)

You can also kind of see my black and gold ombre nails.  I used this video from Bella Sugar to learn how.

DIY- FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS

I recently decided that I was going to take on another grandma style craft.  I already knit, so cross stitching seemed like a good next step.  I ordered the my supplies from Joann's and got a few different fabrics, some embroidery hoops, and a pack of embroidery floss.  The pack of embroidery floss was a bit underwhelming, but I made good use of some of the colors, by starting a cute little cross stitch of some colorful neck ties (I'll post a picture when it's completed) and a few friendship bracelets.

I don't remember what the exact knots were that I used, my hands just remembered the motions from my elementary days.

Next, I NEED to make a few neon bracelets, my arm feels a little bare with only two bracelets.  I think I am going to pick up this neon pack from Purl Soho today or tomorrow!

Maybe I'll get some different colored skulls too!

SCHNIPPER'S

When I first came across Schnipper's Quality Kitchen, the name sounded a little weird.  Why would they call it a "Quality Kitchen"?  It just looked like a fancy fast food place.  It kind of is a fancy fast food place, but its ohh so good! I have been periodically eating at Schnipper's or Schnipp's as I refer to it, for a few years, but since I have been working in Midtown a couple of blocks away, it has become a weekly lunch spot.  I usually get their chicken fingers and fries meal, which is super tasty, but they also have beyond juicy burgers and amazing salads (so I hear from my boyfriend, I could never order a salad if I am presented with the choice of a burger or chicken fingers).  These fries also taste like they have a corn starch coating to give them a little extra crisp and are golden on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside.  The seasoning is pretty good too, not bland and not overly salted.

SCHNIPPER'S GRADE:
Appearance: 4.5
Texture: 4.5
Taste: 4.5
Overall: 4.5
